Spreading Smutty Love for #SOSS – Volume 1

In the world of writing or creating any content about sex, a few things are true…
We won’t all agree on what’s sexy or good.
It’s a small community so it pays to be kind to each other.
The big platforms love our ability to create connection and activity but hate admitting sex and smut exist on their platforms.
It’s because of this last one that Patreon cracked down on pornography and sex work but that’s not all. Twitter randomly shadowbans some NSFW accounts but not all. I went to self-hosting during the WordPress and Blogger purge of 2013/2014. New NSFW accounts struggle on Tumblr because sex accounts aren’t allowed in search.
The whole thing is designed to shut us up, hide our content about sex and kink, and pretend we don’t exist. Girl on the Net and Bacchus came up with a solution. Share the shit you love and to make a bigger impact, do a lot of it at one time – now known as Share Our Shit Saturday or #SOSS.
For this first volume, I’m sharing some of the fun things other creators are doing for the community. The current version of each might be closed when you click on it. Make sure you follow the bloggers who have these good ideas so you find out when they start another fun thing.
Erotic Song Lyrics
My friend and amazing human being and sex blogger, Exhibit A, ran an erotic writing contest all about song lyrics in October and part of November 2017. While entries are currently closed, go check out everyone who entered. Even though you can’t link up to it, maybe it’ll inspire writing of your own. And he is known for these kinds of ideas so I promise this won’t be the last contest he runs. Follow him!
Memes to Try
I’ve written about the importance of memes in the past as a tool to help you blog more. Here are a few I wouldn’t want you to ever miss…
- Kink of the Week, from Molly Moore, is a great way to explore your own kinks and fetishes or write a bit of erotica.

Share Your Work
In what might be the original version of sharing our shit, make sure you check out e[lust] – run by Molly Moore and her husband Michael. (If you think I have a lot going on as a blogger, Molly and Marie run fucking circles around me). Each month you can submit something (one thing only) you’ve written to be shared in a curated blog post. Molly picks a favorite or two each month to feature, as well. Plus, you can submit your work to Sex Bytes for a special feature there. It’s a great way to find other creators and to be found. But make sure you follow the rules to the letter. They make them easy and clear, so no excuses, y’all.
