My name is Kayla Lords and I am a Smutlancer.
That means I’m a freelancer who writes about sex, kink, and masturbation. To me, the term fits anyone who creates content about sex and wants to get paid for it, and make a living at it.
What is a Smutlancer?
While there are plenty of excellent resources out there for writers of any topic, there aren’t a lot for anyone writing about sex. I’ve spent years reading between the lines on other writing websites because some rules are universal. But in the sex-writing world, we have extra considerations. What to do when no one will host your website, publish your words, or give you a platform because what you write is “obscene.”
You deserve to get paid for what you do. You deserve to view your work as any other writing professional does. Here at The Smutlancer, I share all the different aspects of what it takes to get paid as a writer from who accepts pitches to how to be a professional writer and everything in between.
This space is a resource for writers to learn from each other which means sharing what we know.
I’m a freelance writer, self published erotic author, sex blogger, and podcaster, and I really like creating content. As a writer, I focus on sex and kink primarily on Dominance and submission and BDSM. I contribute to websites like Kinkly and Fetish.com and write for multiple adult companies. I’m proof that you can make a living writing about sex.
I’ve spoken at Eroticon 2018 and I’m an award-winning sex blogger and I’m pursuing the smutlancer career with a passion.
I believe we are stronger together as a sex blogging community than we are isolated and apart. We all deserve to get paid for the work we do, but until we understand our cumulative power, we’ll all wonder if we’re “the only one” doing this smutlancing thing.
