The income/expenses report from the past few years has been important information to share, but it’s a bit boring to share the same list of numbers over and over again. Since I (Kayla) am focusing on revenue streams more than income, I’m switching things up and only focusing on those numbers in the updated monthly revenue report.
It’s time to look at December 2020 income and revenue streams. Spoiler alert: it went down, but it’s still within my “normal” income range. This is what the freelance life looks like a lot of times — up, down, and in-between with income fluctuations.
Of all the things on my mind in July, my income wasn’t really one of them. I’m well aware of my privilege here, although I’ve newly arrived at it. But it also means that whatever numbers are below will be a surprise to me — good or bad, so I have no immediate thoughts on what July was like. Other than a very long month.
October was a lot like September, as you’ll see in how close the numbers are from one month to the next. But this was also the month that I started extra projects for a long-term client which means that next month will look much different. It’s not always easy to work extra hard and have a payment delayed by 30 days or so, but that’s the nature of the way I bill. It also reminded me why I prefer to have a really structured work-life. I hesitate to call September a “tight” month because I know there are people who will kill to earn this kind of money, but it was tight for us. We made it through and things are already looking up in the coming months. It was also nice to have a few blog and podcast sponsorships come through. That definitely helped out.
