Rebranding the Smutlancers

This week’s episode is a long time in coming, as are the changes you may be noticing around the website or on social media. In this episode, we announce the changes we’ve made as part of the Smutlancers rebrand — and we talk about what we did to make it happen.

In this episode:

  • What we’re doing:
    • New graphics/look/feel — with graphic help from Violet Fawkes
    • New home page layout — no longer just a blog feed. Meant to help guide and direct newcomers to where they want to go.
    • New specified focus — sex bloggers/toy reviewers, freelancers, erotic authors
    • Monthly contributors:
    • Chelsea Hamlet — Smutlancer spotlight
    • Chase Tramel — book reviews
    • Girl on the Net — GOTN wisdom
    • Ongoing pitches accepted — with a new direction, we’ll be looking for content that fits general smutlancer info as well as specific to those audiences
    • The podcast is mostly the same, but we’ll be offering more interviews — Molly’s doing that
    • We’ll be more active on social media
    • We have NEW Patreon/community tiers
  • HOW we did it:
    • Planning over Skype and collaborating with Violet in Twitter DM
    • Working with other smutlancers — using money from Patreon (shout-out to Smutlancers community!) to pay for it
    • Lots of checking in and not being afraid to be completely honest with each other

Kayla Lords

Kayla Lords is a freelance sex writer, podcaster, blogger, all-around sex content creating human, and she really likes creating content. As a writer, she focuses on sex and kink primarily on BDSM and power exchange. She works with private clients to write their content and manage their social media, while also co-hosting two podcasts, running a YouTube channel, and managing multiple blogs. Let's just say, she stays busy and wants to keep it that way. Kayla is an international speaker and an award-winning sex blogger. She believes we are stronger together as a community than we are isolated and apart. We all deserve to get paid for the work we do, but until we understand our cumulative power, we'll all wonder if we're "the only one" doing this smutlancing thing.
