November was a good month in terms of income, revenue, and my smutlancing life. As we’re barreling towards the end of 2020 (which makes me think both, “Oh thank fucking gawd!” and “HOW?!”), a lot of plans are being made for what 2021 will look like. Of all the things on my mind in July, my income wasn’t really one of them. I’m well aware of my privilege here, although I’ve newly arrived at it. But it also means that whatever numbers are below will be a surprise to me — good or bad, so I have no immediate thoughts on what July was like. Other than a very long month.
June 2020 was better than June 2019 and yet, my net income has fallen several hundred dollars since the beginning of the year. Not sure if that means anything, but I only know it because I track my income each month. We shall see if it’s an indication of anything significant or just a typical blip in the life of a freelancer.
So how was May? Thankfully about the same as every other month. My vanilla income has decreased slightly but every other revenue stream has held steady which is definitely a win considering the state of the world.
Before anyone asks what, if any, impact coronavirus has had on my smutlancer income, all I can say is, “I don’t know.” Why? Because these income reports are always a snapshot of the past. March income reflects work from February, before lockdowns, shutdowns, and serious self isolation really began. I just sent out invoices for March which you’ll see in early April, and so far that hasn’t changed much either.
