October 2019 Mailbag

In this month’s mailbag episode, we answer several questions AND respond to comments. There’s even a Molly rant towards the end. We’re talking about copyright, trademarks, self hosting, publishing erotic books, and pitching yourself for the smutlancer job you want.

In this episode:

  • When do you “become qualified” to pitch yourself to sex toy companies etc. as a social media manager/content creator?
  • Questions on a blog post:
    • How do we deal with adult content (age 18+) on a hosted blog? I thought this type of blogs would need a pop-up or sort to ensure that the reader is 18 years old or older?
    • Can you recommend site(s)/post(s) about the legality issues involved in writing adult content?
    • What about the data privacy compliance issue/law?
    • How do you promote your content? i.e. once you write a post, do you count solely on SEO? do you publish several social media posts?
    • Even if you site does not include porn or explicit photos, some of the affiliate ads may have images on the boarder-line.
      • How does the host accept this?
      • How do we go about selecting the best adds for the site, if the affiliate or adsense(whatever company) selects them for you…(?)
  • Remarks from self-hosting podcast episode — copyright, trademark, and getting help setting up your website.
  • Where do you think it’s better to publish one’s book, at an editorial or on the internet (for example, amazon)??
