This was a super helpful post, especially as someone about to relaunch my Patreon account with a new focus. (That’s a secret currently while I try to get my shit together behind the scenes, but I feel safe enough revealing it here in the comments.) I admit, I’m a bit nervous about using ANY of the Patreon features, as I worry that it was my special offer that originally flagged my account to Patreon and ended with SOMEONE WHO HAS MY LEGAL NAME FOR TAX REASONS GOING THROUGH MY TWEETS TO FIND ONES THAT BROKE THEIR RULES. I think it is ridiculous that, according to them, I cannot promote Patreon on any social media account that also likes to adult content, even though they have no way of KNOWING whether I do if I don’t link my Twitter, insta, etc. on Patreon? Basically I’m still angry at them, but also hesitant when it comes to using their new features. On a less ranty note, I wanted to point out that their annual membership feature is being rolled out slowly and not every creator has access to it yet. If you meet their criteria of eligibility (https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041721372-Offering-Annual-Memberships-for-my-patrons) you can submit a ticket to the support team and request annual membership. I personally am not sure I’m brave enough to do this, but maybe that’s anxiety based on my experience. Anyway, your advice on setting goals that members care about is definitely something I need to think about and put into practice. I’m also curious to whether you and Molly are planning on doing membership drives for Smutlancer Patreon-ship in the same way that you do for Loving BDSM? Is it just a time thing that means you haven’t yet? Also, I’d argue that you DID change up your tiers for The Smutlancer Patreon in 2020, just not at the beginning of the year, because you added the $75 editor critique and site evaluation tiers! (Was that in 2020? Time makes so little sense right now…)

A good guide for anyone trying to figure it out.
